Focused Learning is an independent tutor and mentoring program with services provided by Vanessa Avery . Mrs. Avery works one-on-one with all types of children (both regular education and students with special needs) and their parents to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. Children can be provided support with academic coaching, homework help, organizational skills, social skills development, and applying for jobs and colleges

Children have unique personalities and different learning styles so it is imperative to create a personalized program that is based on preassessment results and vital information received from parent and child questionnaires and interviews. At the beginning of the program your child will set attainable goals and objectives to work towards. Then throughout each session he/she will slowly improve so that these measurable objectives can be met. Your child will eventually achieve the expected outcome and master their objectives with confidence.

Students receive individualized tutoring and mentoring and are given undivided attention, direct instruction, and consistent guidance. This type of one: one learning ensures that your child's needs will be met. Students learn to take ownership over their progress based on weekly discussions, measurable objectives, and the data collected from each session. Additionally students are taught how to check over their work and become independent learners so that they are integral in driving their own success.
Focused Learning also provides support to parents about how to further instruct and support children academically, provide behavior support to students with special needs, and educate parents about special education policies. Parents, children, and teachers are all tremendous stakeholders that must work together to ensure that each child receives the very best academic and emotional support and reaches their fullest potential in all areas. As a result Focused Learning can be used as an effective tool to serve families in supporting their children in many different ways. |
