I currently am an MCPS reading teacher in Bethesda, Maryland where I work with first and second graders to teach them foundational reading skills, fluency, and comprehension. I also have taught first and second grade as a classroom teacher for six years and have worked with many English language learners and students with special needs.
In recent years I have tutored and mentored students to help them improve in a variety of areas: executive functioning, organizational skills, reading fluency, writing essays, etc. I also have helped to educate parents about how to better help their children improve academic and behavior issues, and how to move forward in the special education identification process. All of my experiences have given me a wealth of knowledge that I use in my daily encounters with children.

Graduating from Loyola College in Baltimore with certification in Elementary and Special Education led me towards Washington D.C. to begin my teaching career. After having taught for four years, I attained my Masters degree in Administration and Supervision and later a reading certificate from John Hopkins University.
Guiding children academically, socially, and emotionally is a genuine interest I have always had. All of these puzzle pieces are vital to the developmental growth of children, and they must be carefully cultivated through learning experiences and an indefinite exposure to new and different things.
As a teacher, tutor, and mentor, I enjoy working with children to provide them the motivation, knowledge, and guidance to reach their fullest potential through a creative, diverse, and relevant education. |
